Nearly 30 years ago, Carlo DiLeonardo went into the pizza business—operating and then franchising many pizza shops around West Michigan.
In 2005, he and his family started a new chapter in the business. They opened a $1.5 million, full-service Peppino’s Ristorante Pizzeria and Sports Lounge in Allendale Township. The 8,000 square-foot Italian restaurant, 5053 Lake Michigan
Drive NW, seats about 250 and has a liquor license.
The popular casual dining spot features 25-foot ceilings with exposed wood beams. Cozy booths line the walls and each has its own 15-inch, built-in, flat-screen television. Additional screens above the bar and three large, high-definition projection televisions ensure that no one misses a moment of action.
The walls are decorated with black and white photographs of the DiLeonardo family, some more than 50 years old. The close proximity to Grand Valley State University is recognized with various sports memorabilia mixed in to the decor. One half of the restaurant is devoted to casual dining and the other half to sports enthusiasts.
There’s also a gated 50-seat patio for outside dining, weather permitting.
