Cygnus in the Amway Grand Plaza
The restaurant atop the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel recently reopened after its first major renovation in more than twenty years. The new design features a very modern, contemporary, celestial type environment—a definite change from the 80’s style mauves and blues.
Diners are now surrounded by rich browns, creams and pearl whites, with bright red and blue accents. Rather than the sharply angled skylight ceiling, 68 handcrafted cube shaped lanterns cast a soft glow at a more intimate ceiling height. The skylight panels were also covered by white sheeting to cut down on the greenhouse effect when the sun beats down. The new decor is full of waves and curves, meant to evoke a feeling of being transported. The new lounge features a Plexiglass bar lit from within that almost looks like it was carved from ice. The 28th floor has been renovated into two separate private dining areas, known as Sky One and Sky Two, one with a capacity of about 20 people and the other can hold about 40 and has a plasma screen television. Both have magnificent views of the city.
The Amway Grand Plaza Hotel is a 4-Star/4-Diamond luxury hotel in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, featuring fine restaurants and retail shops.
